Visits & getting there, HMP & YOI Littlehey

Visits at Littlehey are held at different times for adult and young offenders.

YOI visits:

All visits can be booked by telephoning the booking line: 01480 335650 , lines open from 09:00 – 16:45 Tuesday – Sunday. You can also book online at www.gov.uk/prison-visits. All you need is the name and date of birth of the person you are visiting and their prisoner number. You can choose up to 3 possible dates and times. Prison booking staff will check what’s available and confirm your visit by email. If you’ve made an online visit booking request and haven’t received a confirmation email within 1-3 working days, please email [email protected] (at least 48 hours notice is required).

There is a Visitors’ Centre (except Mondays) with tea/coffee bars in visitors’ centre and visits hall, along with a children’s play area. It is not possible to hand items to prisoners, or to take items from them on visits without prior application. In common with most prisons no visitors’ property is allowed onto the visits hall with all property kept in secure lockers at the Visitors’ Centre – (10p required for locker key).

Only a small amount of money allowed in visits hall (£15 max per adult) and visitors may subject to the usual search procedures. Remember to take photographic identification for all adult visitors and identification will be required for all children & babies.

Littlehey is situated near Grafham Water Reservoir, 7 miles west of Huntingdon, in the village of Perry. A special bus service is run by Nene and Ouse Community Transport and provides a bus service for families and friends from Huntingdon Railway and Bus Stations only to HMP/YOI Littlehey. Seats must be booked in advance directly with the bus provider on 01480 411 114. The buses depart at times which match visiting times at the prison, with the return service timed for the end of the visiting session. It cost £7 per adult and £3 children for the return trip.

Train: The nearest mainline railway stations to HMP Littlehey are St Neots and Huntingdon. Taxis can be taken from either station to the prison.

 Car: Main routes by road via the A1 (turn off at Buckden roundabout along the B661 signposted Kimbolton and Perry) and from the Midlands via the B645 (turn off in Great Staughton up the B661 signposted Perry/Buckden). In the village of Perry the road to the prison (Crow Spinney Lane) is beside the Wheatsheaf public house and is signposted Littlehey.   There is a free visitors’ car park adjacent to the Visitors’ Centre.
