Restorative Justice Project

The prison actively supports the Restorative Justice initiative. Over the last 3 months the prisoners have been working on creating a children’s playground on the  West Side park. The playground on the old site had fallen into disrepair and the restorative Justice team of 3 staff and 8 trusted prisoners cleared the site of rubbish, debris, brambles etc, relaid the surface with special “rubber” bricks and build the new slide, seesaw and swings for the under 10’s. They also created a skateboard park which provides provides street and ramp discipline obstacles cater for all styles and abilities  of riders.

The park was opened last Monday by the chair of the local council who said that the regeneration of the park was part of the considerable efforts and resources being spent on the area, and thanked all of the restorative justice team and the prisoners for their sterling efforts.
