The work which you will be allocated in prison, assuming you are not undertaking full time education, varies from prison to prison. In all prisons there are the simple jobs of wing cleaner, library orderly, kitchen worker etc along with work making windows, completing mailing for magazines, packing plumbing parts. You will be asked to express your preference but don’t be shocked if you don’t get your first choice! Again it varies from prison to prison but you will be expected to remain at the job you were given for a minimum of 4 weeks before asking for a transfer.
