Visits take place at the following times :

  • Wednesday 14.00 – 15.00 and 15.30 – 16.30
  • Saturday 14.00 – 15.00 and 15.30 – 16.30
  • Sunday 14.00 – 15.00 and 15.30 – 16.30

You can book online, go to www.gov.uk/prison-visits. All you need is the name and date of birth of the person you are visiting, their prisoner number and details of the visitors. You can choose up to 3 possible dates and times. Prison booking staff will check what’s available and confirm your visit by email. If you’ve made an online visit booking request and haven’t received a confirmation email within 1-3 working days, email [email protected] or call the booking line on 01524 563636, which is open 0900 to 1200 Monday to Friday.

All visitors must produce acceptable forms of photo ID and proof of address. Like at all prisons you can’t take mobiles, cigarettes or food and drink into the visits hall, these may be left in lockers in the visitors centre which is run by a local charity click here for more details or call 01524 563450 and ask for the centre. You are advised to arrive at the visiting centre at least 45mins for the security checks etc; you can take £10 in change into the prison to buy tea/coffee at the snack bar. Getting there

Bus service no 18 operates between Lancaster Bus Station and the prison Monday to Friday, commencing at 07:50 and finishing at 17:30. If coming by train to Lancaster Castle Railway Station timetables complete the journey by taxi or bus. Taxi company numbers are 01524 32090, 01524 848848 From the railway station taking a taxi to HMP Lancaster Farms will cost approximately £5.00, the bus station is less than five minutes walk from the railway station.

If travelling by car from the M6 , leave at Junction 34 and follow the Lancaster City Centre signs. Make your way round the one-way system to Dalton Square. At the traffic lights turn left along Nelson Street (sign posted Lancaster Farms) and proceed along Nelson Street, East Road and Quernmore Road taking the fourth left turn marked Stone Row Head. The prison is situated two hundred yards down this road. There is parking available at the prison.
