Work & Education at Hollesley Bay

HMP & YOI Hollesley Bay offers work, full and part time education and encourages prisoners to engage with the local community on both community/training placements and on the paid working out scheme.

Employment within the prison includes the usual tasks, such as ktchens, gardens, clothing exchange store, recycling, works, staff mess, transport department and a number of orderly positions. NVQ qualifications are offered for both the catering positions in kitchen and the staff mess.

The gymnasium operates during the day delivering qualifications at Level 1 & 2 including Healthy Living, Fitness Instructor, Circuit Training and First Aid at Work/Defibrillator Training. It is widely available during the week and in weekday evenings and weekend mornings.

The education providers is A4e, and they provide courses in plastering, bricklaying, painting & decorating for which nationally recognised qualifications can be achieved They also offer Part time education in Literacy, Numeracy, and ITQ
