Work & Education at Wormwood Scrubs

There are 7 industrial workshops delivering a range of opportunities for prisoners to engage in work, receive training and attain qualifications. The prison actively sources links with employers who will consider recruiting ex-offenders. The workshops training opportunities include painting & decorating, laundry, British Industrial Cleaning Sciences (BICS) .

Education is provided in conjunction with A4e and offers training in enhanced IT skills, financial management and other interactive e-learning opportunities.

The education programme focuses the basics of literacy numeracy, life and social skills and IT. The main education block accommodates up to 120 learners per session and the residential wings have classroom facilities with qualified teachers supporting learning on programmed sessions each week.

The local authority runs a Library Service within the prison for use by prisoners.
