Education is provided at the prison by Weston College, who offer a wide range of educational courses, including the Open University for distance learning courses.
As usual in any prison there are a number of orderly jobs available for the prisoners such as wing cleaners, kitchen staff, peer support workers etc.
The Verne also operates 5 workshops
- woodmill for furniture construction
- making breakfast packs for other prisons
- repairing televisions
- repairing bicycles
- leather goods for use in prisons.
