Thameside makes use of technology in deliver of its education programmes, alongside traditional teaching methods and outreach (training at place of work) . Support is gven to prisoners in the use of proprietary software such as Microsoft Office or Open Office applications.
Learning and Skills The main focus is Functional Skills in English, Maths & ICT however there is a wide variety of other more advanced courses offered including:

- Storage & Logistics /Warehousing
- Horticulture
- Fitness Instruction
- Healthy Eating/ Nutrition & Exercise
Prisoners unable to access these classes will be accommodated through 1-1 tuition and through our outreach provision. The courses provided are regularly reviewed constantly to reflect learner & local labour market needs.
The work within the prison includes the usual array of orderley jobs such as Kitchen, Bistro, Grounds, Waste Management, Environmental, Shop, Laundry and Painting. Prisoners have the opportunity to gain accredited qualifications in many of these disciplines.
