Bookings can be made between 09:00-18:00 Monday – Friday by telephoning 0300 060 6507. The booking service is closed on Bank Holidays.  Visits may also be booked by email to [email protected]. It can take 24hrs to get an answer from the email booking team. Remember to include your name and details, along with the details of any other visitors when booking by e-mail. Visits can be booked up to 28 days in advance but all visits need to be booked one clear working day in advance.

To book online, visit: www.gov.uk/prison-visits. All you need is the name and date of birth of the person you are visiting and  their prisoner number. You can choose up to 3 possible dates and times. Prison booking staff will check what’s available and confirm your visit by email. You’ll also receive your visiting order (VO) number by email. You must bring this with you when you visit.

A Visitors Centre is situated opposite the establishment where visitors are met by staff and lockers are available to store personal belongings.

Transport to the Prison

If you want to plan your journey on public transport visit the the traveline web site (click here). It is an excellent way to plan your visits.

There is no bus service available to the prison. The nearest mainline railway station is Lichfield City Station which is about 3 miles from the prison and the only transport is by taxi.

If travelling by car from the  North East turn off M1 at Junction 28 onto A38 (Matlock). Stay on A38 southbound for approx 40 miles. Bear left at roundabout still on A38 (Birmingham) Swinfen Hall signposted on left approx 3/4 mile. From North West turn off M6 at Junction 12 onto A5 Stay on A5 for approx 14 miles. At Weeford roundabout take A38 (Burton) Swinfen Hall signposted on right approx half a mile.

From  the South turn off M1 at Junction 19 onto M6. Turn off M6 at Junction 4 onto M42. Turn off M42 at Junction 9 onto A446 for approx 6 miles. Turn left onto A453 and then right onto A38 (Burton). Swinfen Hall signposted on right approx 2 miles.

Visitors car parking is available at the front of the establishment
