HMYOI Swinfen Hall, Regimes

All prisoners are required to participate in a structured prison regime designed to address their offending behaviour, learning and health needs. Part-time work placements have been introduced to ensure all prisoners have purposeful activity.

A typical day at Swinfen Hall would be: –

  • 08:00  prisoners are unlocked for morning open air exercise
  • 09:00  commencement of constructive prisoner activities consisting of education, vocational training, healthcare treatment, work and offending behaviour programmes.
  • 12:00  lunch
  • 13:30  commencement of afternoon session of prisoner activities.
  • 17:00 tea
  • 18:00  prisoner association period begins (this is their time to have showers, go to the library, participate in evening classes, make telephone calls and to mix freely with other prisoners on the same residential wing).
  • 20:00 lockup
