Work & Education at Northumberland

The Manchester College is the education provider at the prison. Unsurprisingly, as Northumberland is the amalgamation of 2 previous prisons, education and training are delivered to at 2 separate prison locations .There are around 40 teaching staff (full and part-time) at the prison. Courses offered include Functional Skills, Employability, Business Admin, and Creative Techniques as well as Vocational Training Courses such as Motor Mechanics, Bricklaying, Painting & Decorating, Plastering, Woodwork, Catering and Hospitality. Qualifications are also offered in Kitchen, Gardens/Horticulture and Physical Education.
