Visits are held at the following times each week

You can book visits in a variety of ways, by phone on 0151 530 4050, (the booking line is open Mon-Fri 08:30 to 16:30), by email at [email protected] or on line. To book online go to www.gov.uk/prison-visits, all you need is the name and date of birth of the person you are visiting , their prisoner number and details of the visitors. You can choose up to 3 possible dates and times. Prison booking staff will check what’s available and confirm your visit by email. If you’ve made an online visit booking request and haven’t received a confirmation email within 1-3 working days, email [email protected]. Don’t assume you have booked a visit until you get confirmation from the prison!

HMP Liverpool has a visitors centre staffed by a local charity, click here  or call 0151 530 4158. You should check into the visitors centre at least 30 mins before yiur visit so that they can complete the paperwork such as proof of ID (photo ID is needed such as driving license or passport) and address. Children up to the age of 18 without passport identification will require a birth certificate as proof of age. Persons under 18 will not be allowed in unless accompanied by an adult.

Like at all prisons, you can’t take certain items into the prison e.g. mobile phones, cigarettes, food & drink and these can be left in lockers at the visitors centre. You will be searched by prison staff before being admitted to the visits hall. You can take in some money (max £25) to buy refreshments in the visiting hall (£20 notes are not accepted)

Bus numbers 1, 2, 20, 311, 350, 351 travel from the city centre to Rice Lane, and numbers 306, 56 travel from the city centre to Southport Road , both 5 mins walk from the prison Bus number 30b travels from city centre stopping directly outside the prison . Mersey Travel  or call 0151 236 7676. From Liverpool Central Station, trains travel to Walton Station and Rice Lane both located on Hornby Road, a 5 minute walk away from the prison Mersey Rail  0151 702 2071.

If travelling by car from South/East/West, take the M62 coming off at junction 7 M57 towards Southport. At end of M57 first left onto A59, follow signs for Liverpool for approx 3 miles turn right onto Hornby Road; and from the North, take the M6 coming off at junction 26 on M58. At end of M58 follow A59 towards Liverpool approx 3 miles turn right onto Hornby Road .

Parking is available on the road around the prison, but is restricted to a max of 2 hours
