HMP Hewell, Regimes

Houseblocks 1-6 have workshops providing Construction Industry Training, double glazing manufacture, industrial cleaning, waste management, laundry and contract services. Education provides ICT courses, ESOL, basic literacy and numeracy, art and cookery classes. Other special features include a listener scheme, ETS courses, SDP courses, alcohol and victim awareness courses and anger management. There is also a restorative justice initiative, including the SORI programme.

Houseblock 8 ( The Grange Resettlement Unit) additionally offers external college courses, Open University distant learning, a range of ICT, Literacy and Numeracy courses. Employment throughout the estate including Farms and Gardens, Kitchen and full time employment via our Resettlement to Work Scheme.

In addition, across all the houseblocks there is Information, Advice and Guidance offering services such as Preparation for Work training, CV writing, completing job applications and individual guidance interviews.

10:30 – 12:15 Domestics for those prisoners not in activity

11:45 – 12:00 Movement back to wings
12;00 – 12:30 Meal service
13:30 – 13:45 Unlock and movement to activities
13:45 – 16:45 Activities – full prison activities regime

The Grange

No formal lights out time, nor formal closure of association rooms. There is a smoking policy in operation, which restricts smoking to specific areas. Dormitories and rooms are all non-smoking.
