HMP Hewell, Staff and prisoners cycle for charity

The staff and prisoners at HMP Hewell have cycled from Lands End to John O’Groats, without leaving the prison, for charity.

A team of 15 pedaled the exercise bikes in the gym for a total of 72 hours to make the “journey” and in the process raised £xxx for YYY charity. The team which was made up of serving prisoners and members of staff, including the #1 governor Ms Roberts-Bibby  had to worked extremely hard to achieve the objective of completing the distance with 3 full days, particularly as the staff who had to fit their stints on the bike around their work commitments. Staff and inmates are involved in many  fund-raising event for charity during a year, and the money raised by this effort was presented to Save the Children.
