Work and Education

The education department allows for over 100 prisoners to be given part time education  with evening classes every weekday. A wide range of levels are handled, from basic numeracy and literacy to university level. There is also training offered in  painting and decorating, horticulture, building and electrical skills and industrial cleaning.

There is a wide range of industrial work including light engineering, packing and other manual activity. Prisoners are allocate to a specific workshop during their induction into the prison and are allowed to apply for a change of job every 3months.  The average wage is £21.
