Life behind the wall “DoingTime”

In reality “Doing Time” is closer to the TV image of Porridge than Bad Girls. All prisons operate with the cooperation of the staff and the prisoners. The best source of information of how things are done in prison is to talk first of all to a fellow prisoner who is an INSIDER, an individual who has been selected by the prison as trustworthy and who is prepared to assist fellow inmates. Understandably many of the prison staff are specialists in particular areas of prison life such as Sentence Planning, Security, Reception etc so will not have the answer to questions about other area’s of the prison.
