Getting there:

If you want to plan your journey on public transport visit the travel  web site  (click here). It is an excellent way to plan your visits.

The closest main railway station is Leicester Station on London Road in central Leicester, about 7 miles away. There is a small station at South Wigston  about 15 mins walk from the prisonwhich is much closer but trains only run every couple of hours outside peak periods.

From Leicester station you can get a bus or take a taxi. From St Margarets Bus Station (Leicester) you can catch bus # 47  and from outside Leicester railway station you can catch the #48  from the stop  outside the station on London Road. Ask for either the prison or  Glen Parva Barracks. There is a bus stop at Tigers Road close to the prison. Allow 45 mins for the journey, the buses run every 15 mins or so, but check with the bus company (Arriva) at the weekend.

If driving Glen Parva is about 5 mins from the Leicester outer ring road take the B5366 at Saffron Lane and follow the signs. There is limited parking available at the prison.
