Regimes at Whitemoor

The usual array of courses are available including a Thinking Skills Programme, CALM (anger management) and Focus (drug and alcohol), Alpha Courses and a Restorative Justice Course with a focus upon victim awareness.

Gymnasium & Sports: Whitemoor has excellent gymnasium facilities with a full size sports hall, a weight-training room with a section for fitness training and a purpose built classroom. An outside Astroturf area is available for football.

Programs

  • CARAT services which provides support, care and future planning for prisoners with substance misuse issues.
  • The FOCUS Programme, which is a Drug Rehabilitation Treatment programme and a cognitive behavioural drug and alcohol treatment programme, designed specifically for long term offenders whose substance misuse has been linked to their criminal offending.
  • Peer Advice on Drugs (PADs) The PADs scheme is where prisoners listen to other prisoners. The work links into that of the CARATs team. Their aim is to give harm reduction based information, support and up-to-date advice on drug use and drug issues.
  • Voluntary drug testing operates on all residential units at Whitemoor.

Healthcare

The Healthcare Centre has a 9 bed In-patients’ facility and has a full time doctor and provides twenty-four hour nursing services. Visiting specialist nurses attend by arrangement in response to clinical needs. There are Forensic Psychiatrists in regular attendance. NHS Cambridgeshire is responsible for commissioning the Healthcare services.
