The prison was purpose built and opened in March 2012. The design has been awarded plaudits for its environmental credentials. It is located close to HMP’s Belmarsh and Isis.
Accommodation
There are 2 house blocks containing 7 wings and separate building for administration, workshops and educations. The main wings are on 4 levels holding 45 prisoners on each level, 180 per wing. The prison also has a segregation unit and a in-patient healthcare centre with 18 beds
