HMP Holme House, Visits and getting there

Visits at Holme House are held at 13:45-15:45 mid week and twice Saturday and Sunday at 08.45 – 11:30 & 13:45 – 15:30.

You can book by phone, call 0300 060 6602 08:30-16:30 during the week (closes at 16:00 on Fridays), or you can email [email protected]. You can also book online at www.gov.uk/prison-visits , all you need is the prisoners name, his prison number and details of the visitors. You should give 3 alternative dates for your visit; if it hasn’t been confirmed by an email within 3 working days, call the prison on 0300 060 6602. Don’t assume you have successfully booked a visits until it has been confirmed by the prison staff. You must give at least 1 days notice and you can book up to 28 days in advance. If the prisoner is new to Holme House they are eligible for a visit within the first 3 days, booked as per above.

You should book in for your visit at the centre; allow plenty of time for the formalities as if you are late you may not be admitted to the visits hall. You will be required to provide proof of identity, or you will be refused entry. The prison use a fingerprint and photo identity system and all visitors will be searched before being let into the prison. If you don’t comply with the prison officers requests regarding ID and searching etc, you will be denied access to the prison. As at all prisons, there are restrictions on what you can take into the prisons, and items like mobiles, cigarettes, food & drink etc can be left in lockers at the centre during your visit.

Both the visitors centre, which is outside the prison grounds and the visits hall have children’s play areas and refreshments and are wheelchair accessible. The Visitors Centre staff are there to assist visitors, and are happy to deal with all telephone enquiries on 01642 744080 from 12:00 (Tuesday – Friday) or 08:00 (Weekends) until the end of visiting time for that day.

The prison is between Middlesbrough (4miles) and Stockton on Tees (2 miles) on the A19. From Middlesborough the buses are half hourly click here or here. Both Middleborough and Stocken train stations (timetables) are less than 5 miles from the prison The are taxi ranks at either station or at Middlesborough call 01642 222222, and at Stockton call 0800 625 0362.

By car from the south exit A1 to A19; exit at Stockton A1046. The Prison is well signposted from slip road, approximately 1 mile, or from the north A1 to A689, then A19, exit Stockton A1046.
