Major Road works on the A6

New gas mains are being fitted along the stretch of the A6 between Gartree and Leicester. These road works, which are expected to last for 9 months mean that lengthy delays and diversions are being experienced by traffic in all directions. These delays can be particularly long at weekends, up to 45 mins. Visitors to Gartree are advised to leave sufficient time to make sure that they arrive for a social or legal visit early.

The latest Gartree will allow a visit to start is 1 hour before the end of the visiting period. If you arrive after that time you will not be allowed into the visiting hall, and the visit will have to be rebooked by the prisoner in the normal way.
