Education is provided in conjunction with the Manchester College and a variety of activities and programmes are available for prisoners. The education offered concentrates on improving key and basic skills in numeracy and literacy as well as IT, Art, ESOL and Employment skills. There is a PICTA workshop offering training in computer engineering.
Daily employment is also available on site in horticulture, environmental services and recycling, production workshops, laundry, industrial cleaning and catering, as well as the usual selection of orderly jobs within the prison. It is possible to get nationally recognised qualifications in almost all areas of work within the prison.
