Regimes, Work & Education at Blantyre House

Blantyre only holds prisoners nearing the end of their sentence, and its regimes are focused on preparing them for release. All prisoners are expected participate in courses on social and life skills, healthy living and preparation for work. The education provider at the prison is Milton Keynes College.

Those within 12 months of the end of their sentences are able to take external paid work, subject to risk assessment. There are work focused courses in IT, Dry-lining and Plastering run at the prison and prisoners are allowed to attend external college after they have been risk assessed.

The prison actively support ROTLs ( release on temporary license) to help prisoners reintegrate into the society and to enable contact to be maintained with family and friends
