The prisoners and staff at HMP Birmingham have raised the staggering amount of £1,141.27 from charity events in July. A team of 3 prisoners and 2 staff  raised funds from sponsorship by rowing the length of the River Thames, by running from London to Birmingham and by cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats, all during a 3 day weekend period, and all without leaving the prison gym! The foot and saddle sore athletes were all present when the governor gave the cheque to the various charities involved at a brief ceremony held on Friday 18th August
